How it works
The European Food Safety Authority says up to 400 mg of caffeine a day, and up to 200 mg at once, raises no safety concerns for healthy adults. While pregnant or breastfeeding, it’s up to 200 mg a day.
The drink amounts are EFSA’s typical values. A big café coffee can hold much more than a small espresso.
